Mr. Abraham “AL” Frazier departed his earthly life on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at home. Abraham was born on April 24, 1941 to Isaac and Annie Dorsey Frazier, in Nesmith, South Carolina. He attended the public schools of Williamsburg County and graduated from Chavis High School in Hemingway, SC. He was employed at Wellman Industries in Johnsonville, SC for about 24 years until he retired in 1996. In his spare time, he enjoyed farming and cooking. Abraham actively served his country when he was enlisted in the United States Army on March 3, 1967. He served in Vietnam, returned to military service with the United States Army National Guard, and was honorably discharged by the Department of the Army in February 1972. He remained a member of the Army National Guard Battalion #132 for twenty years. While enlisted, he served with the Military Police Company where he became the first African-American member in Florence, SC. Abraham joined St. Phillip Baptist Church at an early age. He served in many organizations and assisted wherever was needed. He was also a member of Chavis Masonic Lodge #446 for a number of years; an early member of the “Hemingway Coon Hunting Club” and the Sanbed Community Club. He will forever be remembered for his generous heart. Abraham met and married Kathleen Cox. They were joined in holy wedlock on June 26, 1971. The union was blessed with two children, Adrian Wade Frazier and Elvie Trita Frazier. His parents; his daughter, Elvie Trita; four sisters, Neomia Frazier Brown, Magdaline Frazier Oliver, Sarah Frazier Davis, and Ellen Frazier Allen; one brother, Daniel Frazier; and one sister-in-law, Lois Lorraine Cox-Reaves, preceded him in death. His loving and generous memories will forever be cherished by: his loving wife, Kathleen Cox Frazier of the home; one son; Adrian Wade (Marisa) Frazier of Pamplico, SC; two grandchildren, Brianna Trinity and Adrian Wade, Jr.; six sisters, Rebecca F. Cooper and Sadie F. (Clifton) Cooper of Hemingway, SC; Myrtle F. (Samuel) Hill, Barbara F. (James Lloyd) McKinnon, and Beverly F. (Jerome) Sweat, all of Wilmington, NC; and Dorothy F. (Marvin) Woodberry of Britton’s Neck, SC; two aunts, Lonnie B. Tisdale of Trio, SC and Florence (Stephen) Flowers of Wilmington, NC; one uncle, Robert (Dorothy) Dorsey of Kingstree, SC; one sister-in-law, Arizona Cox of Bronx, NY; one brother-in-law, Bethel Davis of Nesmith, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
