Bean, Harley
Harley E. Bean, age 88 of Pinehurst, formerly of Whispering Pines passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at the Inn at Quail Haven in Pinehurst. Born on July 21, 1922 in Reinbeck, Iowa to the late Harley E. Bean and Harriet Carroll Bean. Mr. Bean was a veteran of his country serving in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a member of Southern Pines United Methodist Church. He was a retired federal government worker where he worked with the U.S. Census Bureau. He was a member of the Southern Pines Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner. Mr. Bean enjoyed all sports and was an avid golfer. He is survived by his son: Thomas H. Bean and wife Theresa of Lenexa, KS and a daughter, Nancy J. Bean of Woodbridge, VA. He is also survived by two grandchildren: Thomas H. Bean Jr., and Katy Keefover. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 1:00 PM, Southern Pines United Methodist Church with Rev.Thomas L. Sweeley and Rev. Cleve May officiating.
