Allison, Alice Miller

Alice Miller Allison, age 65, of Pinehurst, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, at her home. Born on April 18, 1945 in Concord, NC, she was an exemplary Math teacher for more than 30 years, being named Teacher of the Year in Scotland County before retiring. Alice loved people and her benevolent nature made her a dear friend to many. She acted as a facilitator for her family and friends, always bringing others together for holiday gatherings and reunions. She especially enjoyed the Concord High School Class of ‘63 reunions and the Concord teacher luncheons that became so popular. Of course, family came first for Alice and she dedicated her life to her loved ones, always exhibiting her natural patience and listening skills. Her activities were diverse as she became skilled at bridge, golf, line and shag dancing, embracing new technology, solving countless Sudoku puzzles and she loved pouring through a good book or two in a given week. Alice also had a passion for athletics, as she played basketball for Concord High School and Meredith College and regularly attended N.C. State Football games. As her family knows, “Mom” cared for all of us deeply, especially her husband, James. Their love and enjoyment for each other was admirable and rare. Her enduring legacy will be her sweet disposition and the simple generosity and kindness she exhibited with everyone. We will all miss Alice‘s smile, laugh, hugs, heartfelt stories and absolute joy she took in witnessing the happiness of others. She is survived by her husband, James; son Jim and his wife Marianne of Church Hill, MD; son Brad of Fairfax, VA; sister Norma Wilkerson of North Myrtle Beach, SC; brother Marshall Miller and his wife Carolyn of Winston Salem, NC; nephew Hunt Lippard and wife Wendy of Raleigh, NC; nephew Trent Lippard and wife Carol of Lumberton, NC; sister-in-law Myra Bradley of Concord, NC; niece Angie Pettigrew and husband Quincy of Charlotte, NC and a nephew Elliott Bradley of New York, NY.
