LAKE CITY: Mrs. Willa Mae Gaymon Springs, 72, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010 in a Florence Hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Springs was born in Olanta on August 6th, 1938. She was a daughter of the late Tom Gaymon and the late Madelean Hewitt Gaymon and was married to Mr. Hoyt L. Springs of Lake City. Mrs. Springs attended Matthews Tabernacle Pentecostal Holiness Church and retired from Wal-Mart after twenty-four years of service. Mrs. Springs surviving family includes her husband of fifty-seven years, Hoyt L. Springs, of the home; her two children, Charlene Nettles (fiancé, Billy Moorefield), of Batesburg, and Timothy L. Springs, of Lake City; her daughter-in-law, Wanda G. Springs, of Camp Branch; her sister, Carrie Nell Wilkes, of Coward; her brother, Jackie Gaymon, of Coward; her grandchildren, Lydia Springs, of Camp Branch, Amy Springs, of Camp Branch, and Joshua Shane Springs, of Kennedy, Alabama; and her special friends, Reverend Jerry and Martha Howell. Mrs. Springs is preceded in death by her son, Donnie R. Springs; her four sisters, Anna Martin, Allie Wilkes, and Hattie Jane Locklair; and her brother, Sammie Gaymon. The family of Mrs. Springs will have visitation from six until eight o‘clock p.m., Thursday, November 4th, 2010 in the funeral home. Funeral services for Mrs. Springs will be held at eleven o‘clock a.m., Friday, November 5th, 2010 in the Brockington Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Springs Family Cemetery in Camp Branch. Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation, 6110 Executive Boulevard, Suite 1010, Rockville, Maryland 20852.
