Gainey, Melvin

May 29th, 1934 – November 1st, 2010 Funeral services for Melvin Gainey, 76, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Chapel Hill Baptist Church. The Rev. Wayne Cottle and The Rev. Ed Griggs will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home is serving the family. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 3, 2010 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Gainey died Monday, November 1, 2010. Born in Darlington Co., SC, he was a son of the late Ashton and Carrie Jones Gainey. He was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church and was retired from International Paper. Surviving are his wife, Joy Howle Gainey of Hartsville, SC; sons and daughter-in-law, Jeff Gainey of Hartsville, SC, Russ Gainey of Hartsville, SC, Gregg (Debra) Gainey of Hartsville, SC; sister, Margie Wallace of Hartsville, SC; grandchildren, Kellie Hicks, Toni Steen, Tiffany Gainey, Cory Gainey, Taylor Gainey, Ashlee Gainey; great-grandchildren, Jayson Hicks, Raven Hicks.
