Plowden, Fannie Williams

“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:” II Timothy 4:6-7 Mrs. Fannie “Toy” Williams Plowden, a daughter of Carwell and Flora Robinson Williams, was born on July 18, 1906 in Florence County. She received her summons to enter into eternal rest on Monday, October 25, 2010, bidding this old world goodbye. “Toy”, as she was lovingly called by her family, worked as a cook in local restaurants for many years. Mrs. Plowden was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church. She was also a member of Pride of West Temple #301 Order of Eastern Star for 52 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Plowden; a son, Levern “Nub” Plowden; and a daughter-in-law, Margaret Plowden. Left to cherish her memory are: one daughter, Mary Smith of the home; two sons, Claude Plowden of Columbia, SC and Jack Plowden of Augusta, GA; 33 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; six adopted daughters, Virginia Mungo, Eartha Lee Ray, Bobby Jean White, Dorothy Ervin, Miriam Moses and Thelma Burgess, all of Florence, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
