Deese, Harold Dean

Mr. Harold Dean Deese was born April 10, 1942 and departed to his eternal home on October 24, 2010 at his residence in Laurinburg, NC. Mr. Deese was the son of Mrs. Willie M. Jacobs Deese and the late Mr. Neil D. Deese. He was preceded in death by a sister, and also by his maternal grandmother Ms. Emmie Jacobs and paternal grandmother: Ms. Eliza Deese. Mr. Deese was a devoted son, father, friend, neighbor, educator, and entrepreneur and faithfully ministered to his fellowman and community in a true Christ like manner. (I John 4:20-21) Mr. Harold was a graduate of Pembroke High School, Pembroke State College(B.S.) and Harvard University(M.S.). Mr. Harold‘s tenure as an educator covered a diversified spectrum including teacher, guidance counselor, director of various organizations: Assistant Director of the N.C. Commission of Indian Affairs, Director of Rowland Indian Community Organization, Project Director of Pilot Adult Education Program at Robeson Community College, served on the Atlanta Regional Office of Education and also the Washington, DC Office of Indian Education. Mr. Harold was an enthusiastic sponsor for various non-charitable organizations such as the annual picnic for the Foster Children of Robeson County. The funeral will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at West Robeson United Methodist Church with the Rev: Marshall Locklear officiating. Burial will follow at Bakers Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Harold is survived by a daughter: Mrs. Rosalee J. Deese and husband: Mr. John Deese of Maxton; a son: Mr. Harold Dean Deese, Jr. of the home; a grandson: Mr. Jeremy Deese; a great-grandson: Master Jeremy Jaden Wade Deese all of Maxton; also survived by a very special companion, caregiver and mother of his children: Ms. Aggie Deese and a host of relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Locklear and Son Funeral Home.
