Marian Elise Windham York

Our beloved Mama, Grandmommy and G.G., Marian Elise Windham York, who walked this earth with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, returned home with Him Wednesday, October 20, 2010. She has joyously joined her parents, Asberry Livingston and Nettie Baker Windham, her eight siblings and her “Littlest Angel” granddaughter, Margaret Hope York. Born in Lamar, SC, she lived her adult life in North Carolina and Tennessee passing out love and hugs to everyone she met. This authentic “Southern Lady” served in the mission field both in the USA and Central America; was a member of Signal Mt. Presbyterian Church; and was a P.E.O. for over fifty years. She cherished her many friends from church, volunteer work, clubs, and social activities, as well as her special neighbors throughout her life – most recently her fellow residents of Alexian Health Care. Marian’s children, Betty (Lane) Headrick, Ginger (Chip) Jones, and Randy (Kay) York thank God for allowing us the honor of calling her “Mama”. Ron (Jennifer) White, Connie (Trey) Paty, Shelley, Robert, and Monte Headrick, Windy (Ross) Camidge, Kristen (Dwayne) Swanson, Colin (Emily) Nathan, Mary, Annie, and Caroline York feel blessed for having such a kind and giving grandmother. Her great-grandchildren, Will White, Ellie and Cara Paty, David Swanson, Sophie Camidge and Cash and Stella York were “the apples of her eyes”. We want to express our heartfelt appreciation and thanks to her caretakers at Alexian Health Care and Hospice of Chattanooga. You made her final journey home peaceful, and your compassion, love and strength will always be remembered. Her special friends, Luenette Locklin and Brother Andrew have a special place in our hearts as they did in hers. Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 1 PM in Grove Hill Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416 or a charity of your choice. Services are entrusted to Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home.
