John D. Melton

COWARD: Mr. John D. Melton, 62, died Friday, October 15, 2010, at his residence. Mr. Melton was born July 20, 1948, in the High Hill Community of Coward, a son of Helen Hutchinson Melton and the late Dallas D. Melton. He retired from the United States Air Force after twenty years of service and later retired from NanYa Plastics Corporation of Lake City, SC. John was an avid gardener. Surviving besides his mother, Helen H. Melton of Coward, are: His Son, Nathan Melton and his wife, Maria, of Alberta, Canada; grandson, Thomas Melton of Alberta, Canada; brother, Dexter Melton of Coward; sisters, Gerry M. Gaskins of Spartanburg, Nan M. Thomas and her husband, Jim of Coward and Amelia M. Lynch and her husband, Jimmy of Scranton; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at High Hill Free Will Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery, directed by Carolina Funeral Home, Scranton. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at High Hill Free Will Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
