Evelyn Adams Gandy

Evelyn Louise Adams Gandy, age 74, died Saturday, October 9, 2010 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 on Sunday, October 10, at Temple Free Will Baptist Church, directed by Belk Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. A private burial will take place in Black Creek Cemetery. Born August 20, 1936 in Darlington, she was the daughter of the late John and Edith Hoffman Adams. She was a devoted housewife who loved her family, and also had worked for Sunbeam Bread Company. Mrs. Gandy was a member of Temple Free Will Baptist Church, where she enjoyed volunteering in many capacities until her health started to decline. Surviving are her husband of 45 years, Hobson “Hop” Gandy, a daughter, Christy (Rusty) Turner of Darlington, two sons: Hobson “Bubba” (Cam) Gandy of Hartsville, Timmie (Ronda) Gandy of Darlington, grandchildren: Brittany and Whitney Turner, Evan, Cydney and Caleb Gandy, a great-grandchild, Raylen Parkhurst; two sisters: Betty Elkins of Hartsville and Jo Saxton of Darlington and two special children who were like grandkids to her, Josua Garcia and Marguerita Garcia. She was preceded in death by sisters Hazel Aldridge, Bobbie Iseman, Johnnie Mae Jordan and Margaret Gainey. Memorials may be made to Temple Free Will Baptist Church, Po Box 287, Darlington, SC 29540.
