James Herman Austin, Jr.

James Herman Austin, Jr., age 75, of Lumberton, NC died on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at his residence. He was born in Louisville, KY on August 2, 1935 to James Herman Austin, Sr. and Elizabeth Shaw Austin. He was a member of the Lacy McKenzie Bible Class and currently served as a Deacon of First Presbyterian Church of Lumberton. He previously worked as an insurance salesman for Metropolitan Life. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Austin Krueger. Mr. Austin is survived by his wife, Sandra Horne Austin of the home; two sons, Joel Bryan and Marcus Bryan of Lumberton, NC; a brother, Al Austin of Lakeland, FL; and special friends, Dan Floyd and Bill McLean both of Lumberton, NC and a host of other friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 8, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton with Dr. Matthew Rich officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday evening, October 7, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Robeson County Church & Community Center, 600 West 5th Street, Lumberton, NC 28358 or Southeastern Family Violence Center, 108 W. 9th Street, Lumberton, NC 28358.
