Arlo May ‘Smitty’ Kirkland

Arlo May “Smitty” Kirkland, age 80, of Lumberton, NC died on Friday, October 1, 2010 at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton. She was born in Denver, CO on May 20, 1930 to Earl X. and Sylvia Ptak Smith. She worked as a bookkeeper for the State of North Carolina. She is survived by three sons, Johnny Kirkland of Long Island, NY, Wade Kirkland of Lumberton, NC and Kenneth Kirkland of Niceville, FL. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 4, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton with Rev. Dr. Jerry Batten officiating. Burial will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens. Visitation will be on Sunday, October 3, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton.
