LaMelo Ball Played 17 Minutes Friday Night, James Borrego Explains Why Without Mincing Words

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Hornets are in the midst of a four-game losing streak and LaMelo Ball is going through his own on-court struggles.

Ball played just 17 minutes and had 5 turnovers, in the Hornets 123-110 loss to the Chicago Bulls on Friday, leading to coach James Borrego cutting the rookie’s playing time short.

“If you’re turning the ball over five times in 16 minutes, that ain’t gonna cut it for me,” said Borrego on Saturday.

Turnovers were an issue for the entire team on Friday as they committed 20.

Ball has struggled the past two games, seeing his average minutes per game dip some.

“Last two games, I don’t think I’ve been doing real well,” said the rookie point guard. “I’m going to try to amp it up a little next game.”

The Hornets play the Orlando Magic on Sunday at 7pm.
