MYRTLE BEACH - Business is looking good so far for Halaina Cauble. She just opened her new salon on Howard Avenue in Market Common in Myrtle Beach, and is looking forward to next week's grand opening event.
"I re-located from Virginia," said Cauble on Monday morning inside her bright new salon. "I had a successful salon there--I ran it for 15 years. I decided I wanted to retire in Myrtle Beach," she said.
But Cauble also decided long ago to use her business to support charities, because she once was on the receiving end of good deeds. At the age of 19, Cauble ended up homeless and in a women's shelter with three young sons.
"I am here because of God's grace," said Cauble. "It has been a long journey but I'm happy to say: if I can do it, anybody can," she said.
Cauble started her salon in Manassas, Virginia in the basement of her home, and it grew steadily to serve over 700 customers by the time she decided to re-locate.
She is celebrating her grand opening at the shop on Howard Avenue next Saturday, March 19, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Any customer that brings a gently-used pair of shoes, or a $5 donation, for Soles 4 Souls, will receive a $15 gift card. Customers can also drop off donations inside Cauble's business.
