Acupuncture and Allergies

By Health Day

Gesundheit! There's good news from German allergy researchers. A popular alternative treatment may be the ticket to a healthier allergy season.

The study included 4-hundred-22 participants who had pollen allergies and allergic nasal symptoms. They were followed for eight weeks...during two consecutive allergy seasons.

212 were given 12 acupuncture treatments plus antihistamines. 102 got fake acupuncture treatments with antihistamines...while 108 used antihistamines only.

The volunteers who had the real acupuncture treatments reported an overall improvement in their allergic symptoms and were able to cut back on their medication.

Allergic rhinitis...complete with the runny, stuffy nose...impacts approximately 20 percent of the U.S. population.

I'm Dr. Cindy Haines of HealthDay TV with news from today that can lead to healthy tomorrows.
