U.S Pregnancy Rates

By Health Day

U.S. pregnancy rates continue to drop and are now at their lowest level in 12 years. And their second lowest level in 30 years!

According to the latest survey from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,

in 2009, the pregnancy rate fell to 102.1 per 1,000 women aged 15 to 44. That translates to 6,369,000 pregnancies. Other highlights of the survey-Both pregnancy and birth rates for teenagers reached historic lows in 2009 with the pregnancy rate among girls 15 to 17 dropping 53%. and among 18 and 19 year olds 36%. Pregnancy rates for women under 30 fell consistently between 1990 and 2009, while rates for women 30 and older increased.

And finally, the declines have been happening among married and unmarried women since 1990. Both are down about 10%.
