Are getting the message out about Fire Safety!  Here is some important Fire Safety tips:

    Cooking Fire Safety
  • The leading cause of fires in the kitchen is leaving the cooking area unattended.
  • Turn off the stove if you need to leave the kitchen, even if it is for a short period of time.
  • Be alert!  If you have been drinking alcohol, taken medicine that makes you drowsy or if you are sleepy, it may not be a good idea to be in the kitchen.
  • Keep an ABC rated fire extinguisher nearby and know how to use it.
  • Don't wear loose clothing while cooking.
  • Turn pan handles inward.
  • Keep flammable items away from stove.
  • Keep the stove, cooktop, oven and burners clean.
