Event Description

On Saturday, March 15th, Huntington Beach State Park will host its 20th annual Wildlife and History Day from noon until 5 pm. All programs are free with paid admission. The park admission fee is $5/adult, $3/youth ages 6-15, and free for ages 5 and under. Admission to Atalaya is $2/person, free for ages 5 and under.
Returning for this year’s event will be Camp Flintlock, historical re-enactors who will be presenting hands-on programs throughout the day to immerse visitors in what life would have been like during colonial times. Highlights will include fife & drum music, an opportunity to write with quill & ink, and browsing colonial reproductions for sale.

The courtyard of Atalaya, the castle-like former home of Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington, provides a beautiful backdrop for displays and hands-on activities presented by a variety of different agencies and organizations. Visitors will have the chance to get acquainted with a variety of live animals, explore displays of local seashells and fossils, and learn more about the history of the Grand Strand.
One of the highlights of the day will be the 1:00 pm free-flight live raptor demonstration presented high above the park by the Center for Birds of Prey.
