Kangaroo Hops Along South Carolina Highway

Kangaroo Hops Along South Carolina Highway

McCormick County, SC (WFXB)–A bizarre call for officials Tuesday morning, after authorities say they received a dispatch call to an animal in the road…but not just any animal.  Around 6:30 a.m, a deputy was called to a kangaroo spotting on S.C. 28, close to the Georgia state line.  It turns out the kangaroo had escaped from its owners pen, and made its way to the highway.

Kangaroos are legal pets in the Palmetto State, as long as you have proper licensing.  The sheriff’s office posted images of the marsupial to their Facebook page, admitting they thought the dispatch call was a joke.

The kangaroo was captured and safely returned to its owner later Tuesday morning.
